Heidi Watson, (MOT, BSc, CDT)

Founder & Clinical Director

Heidi Watson (MOT, BSc, CDT) is the Founder and Clinical Director of Tumbleweed Health Services. She created Tumbleweed to expand access to neuro-affirming care and rethink where meaningful therapy can happen. Recognizing that many neurodivergent children and youth feel safest and most engaged in virtual spaces, Heidi developed a model that meets clients in the environments where they already feel comfortable—AKA gaming in virtual worlds.

Heidi sets the overall vision for Tumbleweed and leads the development of its programs and standards of care. She is committed to ensuring that services remain client-led, autonomy-respecting, strengths-based, and grounded in the goals that matter to each individual and family. Rather than asking clients to conform to conventional expectations, she encourages the Tumbleweed team to build care around each person’s interests, communication style, strengths, and lived experience.

Her leadership is grounded in more than a decade of experience as an Occupational Therapist. Heidi holds a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of Manitoba, a Bachelor of Science, and certification as a Combined Decongestive Therapist. Her clinical background helps her bridge evidence-informed practice with creative service design, ensuring that Tumbleweed’s virtual programs are both engaging and purposeful.

Through Tumbleweed, Heidi continues to build a collaborative virtual practice that supports clients across Canada. Her goal is to create a clinic where families feel understood, clinicians feel supported, and clients have the freedom to grow in ways that are meaningful to them.

Outside of her leadership work, Heidi enjoys hiking, boating, snowshoeing, painting, and sewing.
